Situated between two small mountain ranges just a few miles from the breathtaking Blue Ridge Parkway Charlottesville has gorgeous views in nearly all directions. The Blue Ridge Parkway and Shanandoah National Park offer endless hiking, biking, lodging, camping, fishing, swimming, and sightseeing. Charlottesville schools rank among US school divisions is top 4%! 100% of our schools are fully accredited and they've been awarded 11 blue-ribbon awards for excellence in music education. Some of the most notable sites in Charlottesville are those that are connected to two of our nation's presidents. First Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. Monticello offers private tours and behind-the-scenes glimpses at this living legacy to the nation's third president. Continuing with the presidential theme James Monroe's Hyland is another historical favorite located just 15 miles south of Charlottesville. Walking through the 18th century home takes visitors back in time with all of their displays of artifacts. There are plenty of other sites to see including the Albemarle County Courthouse the 18th and 19th century structures of Courthouse Square which surrounds the courthouse a collection of old taverns monuments and markers noting the Confederate pass of Charlottesville, and of course glorious turn-of-the-century homes as well as the University of Virginia campus, which features the Rotunda which is the stunning building designed by Thomas Jefferson and is also our next reason. . . Reason number 4: The University of Virginia! The University of Virginia is an iconic public institution of higher education boasting nationally ranked schools and programs, distinguished faculty, a major academic medical center, and proud history as a renowned research university providing Charlottesville with many job opportunities. The community and culture of the University are enriched by active student self-governance sustained commitment to the Arts and a robust NCAA Division 1 athletics program. We love our Cavaliers also known as the Wahoo's! The football team plays at Scott Stadium and the John Paul Jones Arena hosts UVA men's and women's basketball games. Reason number five: ! Charlottesville is a music lover's dream come true! Home to the Dave Matthews Band that got famous at one of our local dive bars Millers. Charlottesville has many stages including but not limited to the Sprint Pavilion, the Jefferson, John Paul Jones Arena, Oak Ridge Farms which hosts the wildly popular annual jam band lock-in Festival. the venues throughout the city are just as diverse as the artists who play at them no matter what kind of experience you hope to have Charlottesville is the place to be! Number six: wine! Here in Charlottesville area, we have a problem. There are too many spectacular vineyards to spend your day at just one. What a problem to have I mean really, we have over 35 stunning vineyards you will want to experience! Reason number 7: restaurants! Between the Downtown Mall, Belmont, and 29 North there's an abundance of delicious restaurants. Local Farm-to-table is very important to us here. I can't get into all of our amazing restaurants because there's just too many! Maybe I'll make a video about that later. Reason number eight: Jobs! Top employers in Charlottesville choose this market for many reasons but one thing is certain the local economy is thriving the business climate in this region makes it one that is hospitable for enriched business startups and even entrepreneurs seeking their own way in the professional world. Number nine: Downtown! Is a pedestrians only district right in the heart of downtown Charlottesville. Brick sidewalks and historic buildings give it an old city charm But the freedom of speech wall is where visitors can write anything they like in chalk, shop antiques vintage clothing, old records, and rare antiquarian books or browse the latest trends and designer duds and jewelry. There are many different street vendors and you can get your locally farm groceries at the Saturday city market! Reason number 10: LOVE!
